Zainabiya Child Sponsorship Scheme – Students Performance Seminar 2016
Assessing learning can profoundly shape the educational experiences of students.
ZCSS Seminar is assessment on student performance that is aligned to learning goals which focus not only on content knowledge but also on process and capabilities.
Participants Attendance: Boys 37
Theory & Practical’s:
The session commenced with the registration of the participants where they were provided their name tags and writing materials and folders.
Boys’ were assessed on Quran Recitation by Sheikh Ramadhan, Sheikh Rijaal and Sheikh Aidarus.
Boys later proceeded to oral assessment of fiqh masails and practicals of wudhu and salah which was conducted by Ustadh Yahya, Ustadh Musa, Ustadh Ali Wando and Ustadh Khalid.
Girls’ assessment on Quran recitation, orals in fiqh masails and practicals on Wudhu and Salah was conducted by Sister Ummikulthum, Sr.Mwanajuma, Sr.Ruiya, Sr.Salma and Sr.Jamila.
On successful completion of theory and practicals’ assessment students gathered at the Bilal Hall eager to learn and understand various subjects that would not only enhance their knowledge but benefit them in many areas relating to studies.
Knowing yourself better through Self Awareness:
Brother Ali Ramadhan, Head Principal at Swafaa Academy addressed the students on Awareness for Self Development & Protection.
He stated “To become more self-aware, we should develop an understanding within ourselves in many areas.”
He further explained the Key areas for self-awareness include our personality traits, personal values, habits, emotions, and the psychological needs that drive our behaviors.
On Personality, he added “We don't normally change our personalities, values and needs based on what we learn about ourselves- But, an understanding of our personalities can help us find situations in which we will thrive, and help us avoid situations in which we will experience too much stress.”
Adding key notes to brighter future to the students:
Brother Iddy Kumbukumbu, secondary school teacher talked on educational issues and ways to boost perfomance.
Sheikh Musa Shali gave a brief talk morals, etiquette, discipline and ethics.
Brother Ahmedali Head of Education Scheme presented his paper on Steps to Good Performance and briefed students on the Mission’s Vision & Mission.
Lastly, Sheikh Yahya Mwangi gave a motivational speech on dedication, commitment and social service at the Centre under Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya.
Role models addressed fellow students on benefits of sponsorship and setting goals.
Two participants who have been beneficiaries of the sponsorship since secondary school to University levels addressed the participants on the benefits of the sponsorship and achieving their goals.
