Drought Response Program - 2011

After the crop failure caused by lack of adequate rainfall, many parts of Kenya are experiencing acute food shortage with cases of people dying of starvation reported in some parts of the country.

In response to this situation, Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya launched an appeal to

its donors and well wishers to assist in cash and in kind to the needy.

Hence, in its endeavors to alleviate the excruciating pain of hunger, Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya is carrying out a Drought Response Program by providing food to the most affected centers’.

During the month of March 2011, the Mission managed to assist 918 families in the villages of Miamba, Moyeni, Mackinon Road, Dembwa, Mwasafu, Mwembeni, Mwaruphesa, Ngonzini and Mulunguni rural centres.

The students from Kichakamkwaju School of Deaf also benefited during this relief distribution.

The community at large expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the donors for their much needed support.

Bilal Muslim Mission of Kenya extends its gratitude and appreciation to CAN AID International, The Walking Group of Jaffery Sports Club of Senior Citizens, Mombasa and other well wishers who have generously contributed towards assisting the less fortunate brethren in the rural villages.

The Mission intends to continue the relief distribution in the drought affected areas in the coastal region and request for your support in this noble cause.
